Selecting the correct water-soluble film depends on fabric type, embroidery complexity, and desired finish. Thicker films (around 80-100 microns) provide strong support for dense or multi-layered designs, while thinner films (40-60 microns) are better for lightweight fabrics and delicate lacework.
For freestanding embroidery, a heavier film is preferred to maintain structural integrity. If working with stretchy or unstable fabrics like knits, a double-layer of film (one on top and one beneath) prevents shifting. Additionally, some films dissolve faster in cold water, while others require warm water for complete removal. Testing a small sample before full-scale embroidery ensures the best results.
